LOGO Competition

Last term we sent out details of a competition to all schools in WiMi’s partner regions, asking pupils to design a new logo for our network.

Very many entries were brought to our meeting in Poland and it was a very difficult job choosing between them. There were many excellent designs from pupils in Turkey, as well as some exquisite hand drawn submissions from Italy. Primary school pupils from France, Ireland and Wales sent in colourful contributions full of images depicting intercultural friendship and communication. A big thank you to all the pupils and their teachers who sent in entries.
Fittingly it was a school student from Poland Daria Rucińska where we held our first network conference who won the contest.

altThoughts from a visit in Paslek at Gymnasium No 1 - PL

One of the highlights of the very well organized Elblag conference was the school visit. Just a short visit to a school gives you a lot of impressions and a flavor of the school's spirit. We got a very warm welcome from staff and pupils and experienced impressive lessons and especially the gymnastics and music performances at Gymnasium No 1 in Paslek.

We were guided by pupils and talking with them during coffee was very nice, they were very open minded and eager to practice their English.

A “Comenius club” was set up inside the school, with 16 pupils from year 7 (coming from different classes). The teachers from the partner countries came to visit France in November 2008, which enabled them to set up the exact goals and schedule for the coming year.

Teaching / Learning English in the Language Room - CY

Language rooms were established in Secondary Schools in Cyprus in 2000 after a proposal by the English department of the Cyprus Ministry of Education and Culture. After a research was carried out it was proven that the institution of the Language Room was one of the best innovations for the Unified Lyceum.

They are user-friendly rooms which exclude the traditional class-facing method of teaching and thus develop skills that will lead to the joy of learning and will prepare youngsters for life-long learning.

ICT and WiMi

This period is information and technology era. An invention or new information produced in any part of the world is reached to millions of people in al over the world, affect the whole societies and change their lifestyles in short time.

This peculiarity is observed in European Communities clearly and it is going ahead more and more. In the frame of WiMi Project, I have observed that Christine and Polly are brilliant at organization, Fintan in web design, Prof. Kurt in teaching methods of foreign languages, Staffan in ICT Management. Gerard’s conference was like a poem, everybody at the conference liked it a lot. Children started to think, work out, and build up fanciful hopes thanks to Tim’s animation teaching and demonstration. I have appreciated the video conference between primary students in France and Denmark and other good practices.
